BRINGING BIG-SCREEN AMBITION TO INDEPENDENT STORYTELLING

Mohworks Films was founded by Australian filmmaker Michael O’Halloran to bring big-screen ambition to independent storytelling. The Queensland-based company develops and produces original work for all screens, with a focus on projects that combine the scope of mainstream cinema with the independence and authenticity of Australian filmmaking.

From feature films to commercial and creative screen work, Mohworks Films is built around a practical, filmmaker-led approach to production. The company brings together strong visual storytelling, resourceful execution, and a belief that independent projects can still feel bold, cinematic and emotionally engaging.

As a production company, Mohworks Films is interested in stories with scale, clarity and a strong point of view – projects that can reach audiences across cinema, streaming, broadcast and digital platforms without losing their independent identity.

THE FILMMAKER BEHIND MOHWORKS FILMS

Michael O’Halloran is an award-winning Australian film director, writer and producer. A graduate of QUT’s Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film and Television, he has built a reputation for cinematic storytelling, visual flair, tightly paced narratives and hands-on filmmaking.

His early short films screened at festivals nationally and internationally, receiving multiple accolades. More recently, his short-form work gained national recognition with an ARIA Award nomination for Best Video in 2024 for directing Platinum-selling artist Budjerah’s Is It Ever Gonna Make Sense.

Alongside his feature work, Michael has delivered television commercials and corporate campaigns for clients including Baskin-Robbins, TechnologyOne, the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, the Department of Justice and Inland Rail. He has also contributed across multiple stages of the filmmaking process, including as Editor on SPACE/TIME and Post-Production Supervisor on the Stan Original film WINDCATCHER.

‘SPACE/TIME’ AND BEYOND

In 2025, Mohworks Films released its debut feature, SPACE/TIME, distributed by Umbrella Entertainment in Australia and New Zealand. The film played to sold-out cinema audiences and achieved a successful VOD release, reaching number three on the Apple Sci-Fi chart in its opening weekend. SPACE/TIME launched internationally through Epic Pictures in 2026.

The release marked a major step for Mohworks Films, establishing the company’s feature film ambitions after years of short-form, commercial and independent screen work. Produced with a hands-on approach across production, post-production, visual effects, marketing and release, SPACE/TIME reflects the company’s commitment to making ambitious Australian films outside traditional pathways.

With a growing slate of feature projects in development, Mohworks Films continues to pursue stories for both the big screen and the small screen, ambitious in scale and independent in spirit. Michael is currently in financed development on a new feature film, BALI NOIR, which he is co-writing, directing and producing.
